They tell me a picture’s worth a thousand words. Let’s hope this one is worth just a bit more…
Katie, you have captured him perfectly, his openess, his kindness and strength. I cannot see that there is even a doubt in anyone’s mind.
By the way, I keep forgetting to tell you- we bought the book with your short story and I gobbled it up in one go. Vera. Fascinating, such an original concept, beautifully written. Honestly you have really mastered the short story structure as well as character development. It know it was contemporary because you mentioned teeth whitening (I won’t give anything away!) but to me it had the timeless slow chill of a Forties movie we watched the other night, Mildred Pierce. Good on you Katie! Keep it coming, love!
Thank you so so much, Jody…you are just too kind…writing Vera has been such a labor of love (a bit of a non-epidural labor, too) so it’s so nice to finally see her come alive…thank you so much for reading and being such a constant source of happiness!
