My grandmother

Thinking of my grandmother today and missing her…

this little piece of artwork is part of a larger children’s book project I’ve been working on, dreaming of…for some time…

She did indeed smell like white flowers..and pine trees…and Estée Lauder face cream…and all the most wonderful things in the world. More importantly, she smelled of unconditional love and laughter and everything good in the world…

  1. My granny was a tiny little lady from Manchester, who was very gentle and sweet and could not cook a lick (overboil potatoes, burn toast) with a pointy finger. She was so thin and little we would joke that in windy Wellington, NZ, she would have to tack into the wind when she went outside
